HIGHERWAVE - The Improv Experience is a Chicago-born fully improvised experience that combines elements of traditional improvisation, live music, meditative soundscapes, and storytelling. Composed of improvisors, musicians, and yogis, this unique group uses scene work, sound, and at times fierce authenticity to elicit a transcendental group-mind experience - a higher wave.

Audiences can expect a stage show like no other - five performers take the crowd on a non-stop improv ride, weaving cues from the audience into instantaneous riffs, humorous scenes, and fully realized musical numbers.  From singing to scene work, harmonies to freestyle flow, the performers are backed by an array of musical styles from pioneering Musical Director Dave Asher. The moment-to-moment improvisational choices are sometimes light, sometimes heavy, and ultimately a reflection of the entire collective presence.

PHILOSOPHY

Improvisation is more than a comedic technique - we improvise when we have a conversation, when we’re dancing, when we’re playing games or sports.  On a wider perspective, none of us really know what we’re doing Here - our whole lives are improvised!  Improv is the art of Life; a microcosm of the entire human experience in a single moment.
